New research published shows an amazing benefit from one of our unique seaweed extracts, fucoidan, found in both our Infinimin® and Infiniderm® products, which may have a complementary anti-cancer effect with traditional chemotherapy treatment.
A team of researchers in Japan state, "fucoidan (from seaweeds) has the potential to improve the therapeutic efficacy of cancer treatment."
The Kyushu University led research team go on to infer from the research that …fucoidan may be as good, if not better than some traditional anti-cancer chemotherapy options today, shown by the data and images in the research. This may provide a much lower cost alternative to therapy.

A few key research summary conclusions they have made; - Combination of fucoidan and three chemotherapeutic agents (cisplatin, tamoxifen or paclitaxel) exhibit highly synergistic inhibitory effects on the growth of breast cancer cells (MDA-MB-231 & MCF-7). [See images/graphs below]
- Combination treatments induced modifications in cell growth for tumors.
- Combination treatments modified the multiple key pathways leading to cell death for the tumors.
- While combination treatments proved highly successful, a new look at fucoidan alone (abbreviated FE in the research study) seemed to show just as potent anti-tumor properties as three traditional chemotherapeutic agents tested.
While these results are promising, as shown by some of the images and references, there still needs to be much more research. Amazing benefit from our own oceans!!!
